Surabaya, October 25, 2025 – To strengthen financial literacy among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in East Java, PT Berdayakan Usaha Indonesia (“Batumbu”) launched a financial education program themed “Smart Finance, Smart Business Growth.” The session took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the atrium of Tunjungan Plaza 3 Surabaya, as part of the FinExpo 2025 series.
The talk show featured Ega D. Maresthy, Director of People & Corporate Affairs at Batumbu, and Gary Tejakusuma, CFA, Investment Practitioner, as keynote speakers. During the session, Gary emphasized that MSMEs play a major role in Indonesia’s economy—contributing more than 60% to the national GDP—with approximately 65.5 million MSME units operating across the country.
Three Pillars of Financial Management
Gary highlighted three key pillars every business owner must master to ensure effective financial management:
- Awareness: Entrepreneurs should regularly record income and expenses and understand their business’s financial condition.
- Discipline: Separate personal and business finances while maintaining a structured financial system.
- Scale: Once awareness and discipline are established, business owners can begin planning systematic growth.
He also introduced the concept of “three financial buckets” as a practical guide for MSMEs: allocate 40–70% for operations, 10–40% for safety (reserves), and 10–40% for growth.
Batumbu’s Role as an Empowering Fintech
Ega Maresthy reaffirmed that Batumbu operates as a Licensed and OJK-Supervised Peer-to-Peer Lending Platform (LPBBTI) focusing on financing productive MSME sectors.

FinExpo 2025 was held from October 23–26, 2025 at Tunjungan Plaza Surabaya, as part of Bulan Inklusi Keuangan (BIK) 2025 initiated by Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK). The event connected regulators, ministries, financial industry players, associations, and MSMEs—providing education, consultation, and direct access to financial services for the public.
